a nautical note...

Edit: This card was chosen as a Top Crop at Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge 120!

Hi there...I have a fun card to share with you today. While Debbie from Simple Treasures and The Shabby Tea Room is away, she wants us to continue to play, so she posted a challenge with a beautiful inspiration beach photo. It's a serene bedroom in red, white and soft blue. I used the Taylored Expressions Sketch #120 as another inspiration. Isn't it a funny coincidence that Taylor uses these colors for her sketches! (hehe) It's also for the Paper Sundaes Challenge #26 - Lots of Layers.

I started with some dark red Bazzill cardstock and covered it with bright white embossed with Spellbinders Impressabilities Sea Scape embossing plate and edged it in Memento Summer Sky ink. Next, I stamped a couple of beachy Hampton Art images (dolphin and sand dollar)in Summer Sky on the white paper and edged them with ColorBox lipstick red ink. The larger square is also embossed with the same plate and mounted on red cardstock punched with a Fiskars corner/edge scalloped punch.

I wanted to keep this one simple, so I fashioned a light blue organdy sheer bow and toped it with a Jenni Bowlin vintage red button with some white twine. A few pins peeking out and tada'!

Have a great week....

  4. This jumped right out at me when I was browsing through the entries at Taylored Expressions sketch challenge! I love that embossed background and how you've let it shine by using a simple button and ribbon treatment as the focal point. Really lovely!

  6. P.S. Pattie, I just couldn't stand it any longer, so I ordered that WONDERFUL Impressabilities Seascape you used on your card! We live half the year by the Gulf of Mexico now and I justified buying it because I NEED to "grow" my ocean-themed supplies ;-) Thanks, again, for sharing your beautiful card!
