Let the Spirit of Love...

As we get closer to the holiday season, we are reminded of the many charities that are in need. At The Shabby Tea Room this week, we are supporting several great charities for our theme of Pick a Cause! Our sponsor is June Lanum from Lina Beas and she is generously providing one lucky winner with a crocheted flower and 20 trinket pins! Our Design Team is also using crocheted flowers and trinket pins in our creations this week.
I made my card in honor of the Johns Hopkins Childrens Center in Baltimore, MD. Johns Hopkins is a world reknowned hospital in my hometown of Baltimore, Maryland and they were there for me when I needed to take my son there for a heart condition when he was 11 years old. He's fine now, but when you are going through something as scary as a serious health condition for one of your children, it's great to know you have such a fabulous hospital that is filled with caring and supportive staff and doctors ready to help through any situation. I am so thankful that they are so close to me and grateful for the excellent care they gave my family.

I used some great Memory Box and Basic Grey papers to layer up here...my favorite is the little birdies paper peeking from the back. I stamped my sentiment from Flourishes Christmas Classics stamp set in Memento Rich Cocoa right onto my dp and topped it with some pretty pearls. The layers of ribbon and lace include some green crocheted lace (thanks to my stampy friend Korin) and a burgundy silk crinkle ribbon topped with a fluffy bow made from some of Deb's Simple Treasures seam binding...you can get some at her Etsy Shop...HERE! I used the sponsor's generously donated crocheted flower to the center of my bow and tucked the trinket pin in the back. I also added another leaf trinket pin by Maya Road and a pearl to the center of my flower. The inside of my card is also embellished with the same ribbon, paper and pearls and another Flourishes sentiment.
